Remember class participation? That phantom part of your grade where the teacher could make or break you. I was terrible about class participation for quite a few years. I probably only got better at it starting in junior year of high school. Before junior year, any classroom noise I made wasn’t so much participation as smart remark. I was a funny kid, I’m sure. But I figured out a system for classroom participation: knowing just enough. Curating a single item or limited number of ones. Usually not exactly on topic but nearby enough.
