I prefer watching television shows I enjoy but don’t admire. I just don’t have the time to marvel at something. Or, if I do, it’s something mainstream to marvel at… like the Marvel Netflix shows. Pun. Punny. But for network television or even basic cable television, I don’t want to have to think too much. But when a show’s on for a while and doesn’t screw up majorly, you get expectations for it, you have hopes for it. It’s lulled you into being committed, but then your brain fires up enough because the show’s actually worth that commitment. But then they screw up, or miss a better story angle. Television is very reactionary right now. It can’t get away with being obtuse, especially not intentionally. Then it gets frustrating.
