This morning I ran through the forest moon of Endor. Maybe. They might have shot it in different redwoods. But the Humboldt County redwoods looked pretty much like Endor. It got me thinking how much is lost by not shooting on location; in the nineties, Lucasfilm was great about using CGI to enhance existing locations. Even for the first prequel, they did enhancement, not entire replacement. Now all the big movies shoot in front of green screen and the backgrounds are video game backdrops. TV still does enhancement. Mainstream TV has gotten better than mainstream movies in the last ten years.
