I like boring movies. Not a lot happens, there are some pretty shots, some good moments between characters, probably good music and cinematography. Why do I feel the desperate need to watch Desert of the Tartars again? But I don’t like all boring movies. The boring needs to mean something. Films of atmosphere. But on television, it doesn’t seem like a good idea to waste an episode on being boring. I hate wasted episodes anyway—I still resent “Battlestar Galactica” for it. Was “Breaking Bad” boring? I really need to rewatch that show (and finish it). But episode five of “Luke Cage” is boring in all the right, understated ways. I’ve been appreciating the direction of the episodes but Marc Jobst really drug out the performances in this episode. He gave the actors a lot of space, which got it to that television of atmosphere.
