My second unpublished novel had a much different writing process than my first unpublished novel. To be clear, there are no published novels, just the two unpublished. They both need some work. They both need very different kinds of work, partially because the writing process was so different on the second one. I had a complete draft of the second novel I wrote during NaNoWriMo. I was so desperate for writing structure, I did NaNoWriMo. Shun me. But thanks to listening to a Mac developer podcast—Core Institution—I came up with all sorts of ways to approach the second drafting (i.e. complete rewrite) in a different sort of creative atmosphere. The work the second novel now needs is much more the stuff the writing atmosphere of the first (an MFA program) would’ve corrected almost immediately. The work the first novel needs is something entirely different. I haven’t found a podcast to help me with editing it yet.
