I don’t know if I had a favorite candy bar growing up. Charleston Chew, if that monstrosity counts. During the summer, there was a snack cart at the beach. A proto-food truck. They had frozen Snickers bars, which my mom would get for us on occasion. As an adult—maybe just as a college student, I learned you could make your own frozen Snickers bars pretty easy. But even when the Snickers bars aren’t frozen, they still have something of a nostalgic value. The false promise of peanut-protein healthiness got me okayed a regular Snickers bar snack in high school, for example. They are filling. They also make you a little sick from the sugar high, but you’re satisfied, aren’t you?
